Export policy

This page explains the scope of JMT's export-support role for international transactions, what stays the buyer's responsibility, and how documentation and shipping are handled. It applies to JMT's international marketplace.

General information, not legal advice

This page explains how JMT's marketplace generally works, in plain language. It is general information, not a substitute for professional legal advice, and does not itself create additional binding terms beyond what is stated. JMT may update this page as the service evolves. For a transaction-specific question, contact JMT support.

  1. 1.JMT's export support role

For transactions originating in Japan, JMT coordinates export-related activity on the seller's and buyer's behalf: routing inquiries and quotations, coordinating inland transport and loading with the seller, and supporting export handover and shipment documentation as part of the transaction. JMT does not guarantee customs clearance in the buyer's destination country, and is not a licensed customs broker or freight forwarder in every jurisdiction.

  2. 2.Buyer import responsibility

Import licensing, customs clearance, and destination-country regulatory requirements are the buyer's responsibility unless JMT has separately agreed otherwise in writing for a specific transaction. Buyers should confirm their own country's import rules for used machinery before purchasing.

  3. 3.Sanctions and restricted destinations

JMT screens buyers and sellers against publicly available sanctions information and will not process a transaction to a sanctioned destination country or a sanctioned party. Japan's own export-control rules (administered by METI under the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act) apply in addition to any rules in the buyer's destination country; JMT helps with documentation but is not the buyer's export-control compliance officer.

  4. 4.Documentation

For an export transaction, JMT coordinates the shipment documentation a machine typically requires — such as a commercial invoice, packing list, and shipping/export documents confirming the machine was loaded — and keeps a record of when each document stage is reached. Exact document requirements can vary by destination country and buyer request.

  5. 5.Shipping and loading

JMT coordinates inland transport, loading, and container arrangements in Japan on the seller's side of the transaction. Ocean freight, destination-port handling, and final delivery are quoted and confirmed case by case, and are typically arranged by the buyer or the buyer's freight forwarder once the machine reaches the export stage, unless a listing or quotation states otherwise.

  6. 6.Generator Buy Now orders

Buy Now orders for eligible generator listings follow the same export process described above, with additional order tracking in Buyer Hub. The displayed Buy Now price includes shipping to a supported destination sea port (LCL sea freight) in an export wooden box/crate where applicable. JMT reviews availability before sending a proforma invoice and payment instructions manually — no online card payment is taken on this website. Import duties/taxes, customs clearance, destination port charges, local registration/compliance, special inspections, and inland delivery after the destination port are not included unless separately agreed.

  7. 7.Duties, taxes, and local charges

Import duties, destination-country taxes, port charges, and local clearance fees are the buyer's responsibility unless a quotation explicitly itemizes them. Prices and availability shown on a listing can change and should be confirmed through a quotation before payment.

  8. 8.Inspection and condition disclosure

Sellers are responsible for disclosing a machine's known condition on the listing. JMT surfaces this disclosure and coordinates buyer questions through the inquiry channel, but does not replace an independent inspection a buyer may wish to arrange before or after purchase.

  9. 9.Contact

For export-related questions, contact JMT support through the contact page with the listing reference and your destination country/port if known.
