General information, not legal advice
This page explains how JMT's marketplace generally works, in plain language. It is general information, not a substitute for professional legal advice, and does not itself create additional binding terms beyond what is stated. JMT may update this page as the service evolves. For a transaction-specific question, contact JMT support.
1.Information we collect
JMT collects account details you provide (name, email, language, destination country), information you submit through an inquiry, quotation request, or wanted-machine request, seller verification documents, and basic technical/analytics data from visits to the site. We do not collect more than the marketplace needs to operate.
2.Account information
Account information (display name, email, language preference, destination country, and for sellers, organization details) is used to operate your Buyer Hub or Seller Hub, to route inquiries and quotations correctly, and to contact you about your account or an active transaction.
3.Seller verification documents
Seller verification documents — company registration, Secondhand Goods Dealer License, and yard documents — are stored privately and are visible only to authorized JMT staff reviewing the application. They are never shown to buyers or published on any public page; only the seller's organization name, country, and verification status appear publicly.
4.Buyer inquiries and requests
When you send an inquiry, request a quotation, or submit a wanted-machine request, JMT stores your message and contact details in order to route the request and follow up. Your contact details are not shared directly with the seller at the early inquiry stage — JMT mediates the conversation and only involves the seller as needed to move a transaction forward.
5.Listing interaction signals
JMT records a small set of interaction signals — for example, that a listing was saved, an inquiry was sent, or a photo set was downloaded — to power your Buyer Hub (saved machines, inquiry history) and to help JMT understand which listings are getting genuine interest. These signals never include message text, private seller pricing, or payment details.
6.Transaction and order records
For an active transaction, JMT keeps a record of its status history, timestamps, and related documents so both sides can see accurate progress and so JMT can investigate a dispute if one arises. Notification and email logs related to your account or an order (for example, that a confirmation email was sent) are kept for the same reason.
7.Storage and security
Data is stored with access controls limiting who can view it, and sensitive actions are recorded in an internal audit log noting who acted, on what, and when. We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, though no online service can guarantee absolute security.
8.Data retention and deletion
JMT keeps account and transaction data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to meet legal, accounting, and dispute-resolution needs. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, contact JMT support — we will respond and explain what we can do given any active transactions or legal retention requirements.
9.Sharing with service providers
JMT shares limited data with the service providers that operate the platform: Supabase for authentication, database, and file storage; an email provider (Resend) for account and transaction notifications; and Vercel for hosting and basic site analytics. If Meta Pixel or similar advertising measurement is active, it is covered in the Analytics section below. We do not sell personal data to advertisers or data brokers.
10.Analytics and advertising measurement
We use basic analytics tools to understand how visitors use JMT, improve marketplace performance, and measure advertising campaigns. These tools may collect page views, device/browser information, approximate location, and referral sources. We do not send buyer messages, seller private pricing, admin notes, inquiry text, payment details, or other private marketplace content as analytics event data.
11.International users
JMT's operations are based in Japan, and buyers may be located anywhere in the world. Using JMT means your information is processed in Japan and, where a service provider above is located elsewhere, in that provider's own facilities. We work with providers that apply reasonable data-protection safeguards.
12.Contact
For privacy questions, including access, correction, or deletion requests, contact JMT support through the contact page.
